 Foreword

The Republic of Macedonia, a country with candidate's status, strongly moves forward to join the big family of European countries In the European Union. It was improbable in the past, but today its a reality. Its a big hope, a hope for all generations, for those who want and work for an improved, richer and better tomorrow; for better social life, for faster and quality health services; for high performance in the primary, secondary and higher education, for strengthening the research base in science; for better standard of life, for strong economy and functioning of the rule of law; for political stability, and for inter-ethnical and inter-religious respect and tolerance. And when we look back we see that it was rocky road: we went through economic blockades, we avoided regional wars, we successfully resolved an internal conflict, and we won the inter-ethnical trust again. Today we are a secure country, which reflects stability in the region, a country with stable political and government institutions, with a vision how to go forward in the future: this is what we call success story.

Walking through the rocky road we have always had the support of our friends in the political and diplomatic domain: we hope that in the future we will have even greater support by our friends in the business areas as well.

Therefore we invite you: invest in Macedonia, it is e new business heaven! Our doors are always open to help you with information, to guide you in the right time to the right address. You will not make a mistake. We are determined to have multiethnic democracy, based on mutual understanding, trust and respect. Multiculturalism is our greatest value and priority.

Starting from the position that inter-ethnic relations are basic pillar of the internal stability of Macedonia, the Government is fully dedicated to taking care and improving them on a continuous basis. We would categorize the activities in this direction in three basic groups: Framework Agreement implementation, achiveving political unity for the reform agenda of the country that leads towards EU and NATO, as well as undertaking steps in the interest of the ethnic communities.

Macedonian citizens living and working in UK are our priority: our doors are always open for them. We are very happy for their working success.

Government to recommend Foreign Ministry professionals for fulfilment of vacant ambassadorial posts

Skopje, September 24

The Government will propose professional ambassadors from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to fulfill the vacant posts, which President Branko Crvenkovski has publicly obliged to accept.

- In order to put an end to the issue considering the fulfillment of vacant ambassadorial posts, we've decided to accept Crvenkovski's motion, while sticking to our principles in order Macedonia to overcome this situation, which is ostensibly being push forward by the opposition and Crvenkovski, said Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski at Monday's news conference.

According to him, Crvenkovski rejected the appointment of several PhDs, professors and eminent individuals from Macedonia with great professional and international experience by rejecting the first motion. Gruevski reiterated that Crvenkovski at the recent meeting was still endorsing the initial proposals - Stevo Pendarovski and Vlado Buckovski to become ambassadors.

- For complete and thorough departisation of the ambassadorial posts, we suggested Crvenkovski to replace all party-related ambassadors with Foreign Ministry's professionals. For us Macedonia 's Euro-Atlantic future and better life for the citizens is far more important, added Gruevski.

In a letter sent to President Crvenkovski on Monday, the Prime Minister expresses disappointment regarding President's refusal of the two motions aimed at overcoming the dispute involving the fulfillment of vacant ambassadorial posts.

Macedonia and Albania do not expect delay of NATO accession due to Kosovo problem

Skopje , August 29 th

Defense Minister Lazar Elenovski described as speculation the information from Brussels that only Croatia would get invitation for NATO membership at next year's Alliance summit, while Macedonia and Albania could find themselves on the waiting list until the final solution of the Kosovo issue.

"We are working seriously and in a few days we will enter in the ninth preparation cycle in the framework of the National NATO Membership Programme. In the defense sector, we are going into this cycle with new contributions, while reviewing the important processes and our aim is to continue with this development. Generally, the countries have the task to complete their obligations", Elenovski said after ceremony for takeover of SEDM Process (South European Defense Ministries) presidency.

The Minister stressed that geopolitical situation in the case with Kosovo final status would not have an effect on the invitations for membership if the things stayed like this, because it's a problem of political and diplomatic settlement.

"We are not talking of security risks, which are present somewhere, but they are marginalized, therefore we do not expect them to have deeper impact. The policy and diplomacy will go on with the expectation that this process will finish by the year end", Elenovski added.

According to him, Euro-Atlantic integration of the whole region, without establishing smaller or bigger "black holes" is in interest of both Macedonia and Europe .

Albanian Deputy-Defense Minister Petrit Karabina, who as an ex-president of SEDM, said these two matters were not related.

"Our countries are trying prepare for acquiring NATO invitations.

Vladimir Jovanovski:

Interview with Antonio Milososki, Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Milososki believes that "in the Greek society, forces will come

out that will initiate the solution of the bilateral question about the name in the best possible way...The less the question about the name of the Republic of Macedonia is a part of the Greek pre-election competition, the wider the field for a realistic approach to the solution of the dispute will be". We discussed this, as well as other questions like the processes for our access to NATO and EU, including some other domestic questions that are in some way reflected on our foreign policy during one of the rare afternoons that he spent in Skopje. read more...

Macedonia candidate for EU membership

EU leaders have granted Macedonia candidate status. They recognized Macedonian's "substantial progress" in securing minority rights and implementing it's Stabilisation and Association Agreement with Brussels. But the new status did not automatically mean the opening of accession talks. Its entry will have to await a broader debate on how far EU should enlarge.

Welcoming EU leaders decision, Macedonian prime minister Vlado Buckovski said it was an act of acknowledgement of the reforms in the country."Its a great day. We' ve won a recognition of everything we have done up till now. The path is front of us free and we know we have real EU friends who appreciate our efforts" Buckovski said.

Now there are three candidate countries for EU membership: Turkey, Croatia and Macedonia.
