BANKRUPTCY TRUSTEE PROFESSION STILL HIGHLY VALUEDT
he interest in going through bankruptcy trustee training courses and taking a final exam is on the rise, because this profession is still considered profitable, although it has been underrated over the past period. This conclusion is all the more so relevant considering that half of the present 202 bankruptcy trustees and 50 new candidates signed up for training.A portion of the selected candidates, or 102 from a total of 174 who received certificates, have already taken the bankruptcy trustee exam, Economy Ministry officials explain.
The results of the written exam will be posted today or by the end of this week at the latest. The second examination session will be in September.
"In 2006 bankruptcy proceedings totaled 1,527, 209 of which were activated and 1,318 were opened and closed.
In 2007 from 1 January to 30 April, there were 553 bankruptcy proceedings, 62 of which were opened, while 491 were opened and closed," said Economy Ministry spokesperson Marija Vesova.
"The bankruptcy law passed last year is being implemented by way of establishing a commission for monitoring the effectuation of the law. A commission for the exams taken by the bankruptcy trustees has been established too. The bankruptcy trustees, 202 of which are physical and 16 are legal persons, took exams before too, but now the rules for granting bankruptcy trustee licenses are rendered more stringent," Economy Ministry officials explain.
The new bankruptcy law imposes on bankruptcy trustees to finish the proceedings faster, about which they will be controlled by the Government too. According to the experts' evaluations, the law has been 85 percent harmonized with the EU regulations.
